You can buy 1-5 non-professional licenses for around $50 from AMCOS (02) 99357700. The license must be shown to the priest before the service starts.

Place

Yes, with special permission, I can marry you outside the church building.

Pew Decorations

Yes, but tied onto the small eyelets.

Time

The service generally goes for 20-30 mins. Often there are several weddings in a day, which means all weddings must start on time.

The church has the right to postpone a wedding, without compensation, if it is in danger of affecting another ceremony.

Brides normally arrive 5 mins before the service to get ready and have photos outside. If there is a wedding following yours photographers will not be able to spend time having group photos.

Confetti

Confetti, rice, petals or other; are not allowed. We are sure you understand why this restriction needs to be enforced.

Payment

Please pay all monies in cash. The money is divided up and passed onto various people. Payment may be made at anytime but no later than the rehearsal.

Wedding Ceremony at Saint Johns

Rehearsal

Generally the Thursday night before the wedding. This is arranged during one of the interviews.

Wheel Chair Access

There is access into the church via the chapel door entrance. If you are looking at the front door of the church, the chapel is on the left hand side.

Booklets

Couples are welcome to print their own order of service (acknowledging copyright) but should show the priest the final copy before it is printed just to make sure all is OK. We find that most congregations do not look at the booklets even when they have been specially prepared. It is common for couples to provide an outline of the service and a “who’s who” in the bridal party. When you come to visit we will talk though all of the options. An outline of the service consists of:

Gathering in God’s name
The Ministry of the word
The Wedding
Signing the Certificates
Prayers

Church

We know that many people come to St John’s to get married because the building is beautiful.

The wedding service is however a very special Holy occasion, where the couple come before God to make their vows and union as Husband and Wife. It is for this reason we ask all people coming to be married here to attend a minimum of 3 services. Why? So you can have a chance to understand what church is. Who is this God who you are making promises to? And what has Jesus got to do with you, your marriage & life together? Coming to church will give you and I the chance to get to know each other and for you to meet other people, particularly others who are also preparing for marriage. Very importantly we want you to come so we can pray for you. If marriage is important for you, then praying for it is essential.

Please check our service times and be assured that you are coming to a welcoming, warm & friendly place.

Bible Readings

Yes at least one piece of scripture. There are lots of bible readings to choose from. Please ask for some suggestions. Often in the back of bibles there are lists to look through.
Please make sure the bible you are reading from uses modern language.
You will find a few suggestions in the "downloads" section.
