The Parenting Children Course comes to Newcastle

What is The Parenting Children Course?

Family life is under great pressure today and parents face bewildering choices about how to parent effectively. Discovering we are not alone in the challenges we face and picking up ideas from other parents can make a huge difference. We can all learn how to make even the happiest family better.

This course is for any parent or carer of children, whether they consider themselves to have strong parenting skills or are struggling, and whether they are expecting their first child, are a single parent or a step-parent.

The practical tools of the course are applicable to everyone who has responsibility for a teenager. Guests can come alone or as a couple.

We offer The Parenting Children Course over 5 sessions.

The session topics include:

  • Building strong foundations
  • Meeting our children’s needs
  • Setting boundaries
  • Teaching healthy relationships
  • Our long term aim

The Parenting Children Course & The Parenting Teenagers Course were developed by Nicky and Sila Lee, co-authors of The Marriage Book The Parenting Book and The Marriage Book. They have been married for over thirty years, have four children, 3 grandchildren and are on the staff at Holy Trinity Brompton – the London church that started the Alpha course. They started running the courses at Holy Trinity Brompton in 1996.

Drawing on their own experience of bringing up four children and having talked to thousands of parents over the years on their parenting courses, Nicky and Sila Lee bring fresh insights and time-tested values to the task of parenting.

Whilst both courses are based on Christian principles, it is designed for parents with or without a Christian faith. Many parents who are not churchgoers have commented that the Christian content was presented in a way that did not make them uncomfortable at all.

Why do the course?

  • Children do not arrive with an instruction manual
  • No role we undertake is more important than parenting

Family life is under great pressure today and parents face bewildering choices about how to parent effectively. Discovering we are not alone in the challenges we face and picking up ideas from other parents can make a huge difference. We can all learn how to make even the happiest family better.
