We had a really wonderful day of fun and community last Saturday at the St John’s Dress-up Soiree! Thanks to Mark and Rob for setting up, for Bee, Jenny and Celia in the kitchen, and for everyone who was helping out with games and activities. Our next family event is the Cardboard Box Challenge on 3 February, from 10am-1pm. Invite people using the website stjohn.ch/cardboard – we’d love to make this another day of fun and excitement for families connected to St John’s!

Upcoming event – Cardboard Box Challenge: 3 February 2018
We have just over a fortnight to the Cardboard Box Challenge on Saturday 3 February, 10am-1pm. Please keep bringing clean cardboard boxes – large or small – as well as clean bottle tops, milk carton tops etc, to church, and leave them upstairs in the church hall. If you need to bring them on a weekday, please let Murray know to get access to the hall.
Upcoming event – Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day): 11 February 2018
We are looking forward to a fanastic pancake supper evening on Tuesday 11 February, 7pm. Battle it out on the quiz. Send your table’s best runner up for the pancake race. Come and prepare as we “change gears” in our community life and begin Lent – the time of reflection that lead us to the Cross and Resurrection life at Easter.
Worship in Lent
To make this time special, we are starting extra times of worship during the week. We begin with an Ash Wednesday service at 6.30pm on 14 February.
During Lent, we will continue with Morning Prayer offered at 9.30am on Tuesdays and Holy Communion each Wednesday at 6.30pm.
Youth groups are nearly back!
KoG is our primary school group, designed for kids in school years 2-6. KoG meets Friday nights 4.30pm-6pm
We also have a high school youth group which meets Friday nights 7-8.30pm.
KoG and Youth group return on Friday 16 February. Contact Rob Woolfrey, our youth minister, on 0425 278 063 for more details.
